Now I Work Weekends?
Yesertday I was out in Jersey tutoring my student when I called home and got a message. My boss had called. He needs something. So all evening long I'm playing phone tag with the boss, stopping by the office, racking my brain over what could possibly have gone wrong. Today I called. Turns out he just wants the phone number of a coworker. Oh, and I should do some studying for Monday. I went to Best Buy instead. . . . . . . . . . The Switch debate continues. I've got my new machine. I've got my old machine. I need to transfer files. I could just spend the $10 and get a crossover cable. OR I could spend $43 for a 5 port switch (plus $16 in cable). Neither of which I'd ever end up using again. I'm leaning towards doing a test and return on the switch, thanks to relatively generous Circuit City return policy (I hope it's still generous). But then I may decide to keep since Jeff had mentioned he wanted to do some sort of network transfer when he got a new machine. A third choice, a hub for $33, I think I've pretty much dismissed. . . . . . . . . . . Oh, and since I forgot to do a system restore checkpoint as soon as I turned on the machine, I'm not too sure if I've screwed up the networking settings on the laptop. Last night I accidentally uninstalled Client for Microsoft Networks, and couldn't reinstall (no clients available). Thank goodness System Restore set an automatic checkpoint the night before. Doh.
