Roebling and Roebling
Jeff is coming into town tomorrow for the Macy's Fireworks Display. We're going to meet at Grand Central at 4 before heading into Brooklyn Heights for a viewing spot. Ideally at the base of the bridge, right where the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory is, at the fulton ferry dock. I'm the kind of guy who likes to prepare for these little things. So, after work that went far too long for my tastes, I decided to do something I haven't done in a long time, cross the bridge by foot. The evening was not too late. Managed to get some pictures with the digital camera. Actually, all I did was take pictures. Lots of pictures. All for my upcoming Bridge Project, where I cross as many bridges of NYC as I can. Managed to cross the span without getting run over by the bikers (they have a bit of a reputation). And I wasn't too tired from my walk afterwards (which is a sure sign I didn't walk fast enough to burn any significant number of calories). . . . . . . . . . . The laptop hunt is coming in for the kill. Killing my wallet that is. The leading contender is the Toshiba Satellite T24-S505 at TigerDirect.com Pretty much everything I want, although the price is a little steep. Plus a choice of a $100 rebate or a media bay slot (so I can read my Memory Sticks ... which is a VERY tempting option). My first choice, the Toshiba s225 sadly is sold out at Best Buy. Now don't you all go out and buy up every last T24-505. . . . . . . . . . . Nerdy notes. Must incorporate sideblog into my site. Also, Metafilter is back online. Apparently moving apartments/servers caused the problems. Whew! . . . . . . . . . . The subway is sometimes very infuriating. Waiting for a transfer, and no less then 7 trains passed before mine finally arrived. Grrrrrr....
