Burning the Oil
These 14 hour days are not quite what I had in mind when I signed up to work here. Not that I'm signed up yet, I just got my paperwork in today. Stupid HR. They didn't have a record of ever sending me out the paperwork last week. So I've been waiting all this time for nothing. Had to finally call their sorry asses last night. . . . . . . . . . . Got a thank you gift from H. for attending/DJing/gifting (twice!) her wedding. A very nice pen, with (gasp!) my name engraved on it. Unlike a certain Indian college roomate who lives in Ohio and of whom will only be spoken about in disparaging and dismissive remarks. Of whom two years later I (and others) have yet to recieve a thank you card for. I actually had the perfect first year anniversary gift for him. I have saved all the old phone records from college, when he used to call his wife in St. Louis for up to 24hrs. a day on Saterdays, which was a free long distance day in our calling plan. And the first year anniversary gift is supposed to be paper. Perfect. Did I send it? It's stuffed in a box in Arizona, never to see the light of day again I think, because he's off the list. And he's gonna stay off until we, who trucked our butts all the way to St. Louis of all godforsaken places for his wedding, get our thank you cards. And that Christmas card with the apology in it? That doesn't count. You can't combine these two things, my friend. Gene don't play that game.
