Myong Cha Robertson. 1944 - 2003
Yimo died today. 5AM roughly, we're not sure of the exact time. We knew it was close, but I thought it would happen tomorrow, not today. I wish I had said goodbye last night. The hospice nurse was here, cleaning up Yimo when I got out of the shower at 7am. The morticians swung by at 10am. And then the family came. I didn't cry yet, but I've come close too many time. . . . . . . . . . . I'm not a nice person, despite what other people might think. I tend to divide people into two or three categories, and most people usually fall into the bad categories. I've been mentally diving family into two categories. Family that cared enough to come see Yimo when she was still alive. And family that finally decided to come over now that Yimo was conveniently out of the way. Most people fall firmly in the latter category. When Yimo was alive, they couldn't be found anywhere to help out. Now that Yimo is gone, they're over, not offering to help, asking for things, not offering condolences. Bah. Maxine and her daughters, Wilma and Suzy, dropped by in the afternoon, all armed to the teeth with cleaning supplies. And Irma stopped by to lend a hand. Next thing I know, we're cleaning the house top to bottom. Wilma armed with the vacuum, Suzy dusting everything in sight, Maxine directing the crew, and myself and Umma doing random cleaning tasks. These are useful people. These are people who will get a thank you card (and probably an appreciative gift). And as I was vacuuming up the carcasses of what seemed like a thousand crickets at Wilma's expect direction, I couldn't help but wonder how I was going to get rid of the other locusts.
