What is the deal with pop-off lids? Who decided that everything has to ohave a pop off lid? I understand the frustration with the self openning can, ala key and precut tin. Everytime I open a can of corned beef, I get the fear that the key will fail and I'll have to complete the job with a knife. I can see the pop-off lid working with spam. That was a good idea. Canned pineapples, ditto. But soup? SOUP?! How is a pop-off lid a good idea with SOUP? Is it some conspiracy between can makers and detergent manufacturers?
