It being Memorial Day, we headed upstate for an impromptu family gathering. After the usual hijinks at the cemetary and Wal*Mart, we settled back at my aunt's place for some lunch. And some lunch it was. The first thing I learned is that if you have wasps building nests in your grill, just turn up the gas and put them to sleep. And if that doesn't work, then just light a match and flash burn them, or slow roast them. Either way, they don't complain much in the form of stinging. The second thing I learned is that if you are buying food at Wal*Mart, better check to make sure you already don't have food at home. Or else you end up with a 6 course lunch that starts at 3pm and ends around 6pm when everybody collapses into overstuffed slumber. The final thing I learned is that following construction on the Cross-Westchester Expressway, what used to be the first exit on the right has now become the 3rd exit after going left. This would explain why I've kept going down the Thruway the past three attempts, instead of the more scenic (and toll-free) Sprain Brook Parkway.
