Sometimes, rarely, I'll have the leave the pressurecooker that is the office. Others treat this with righteous indignation. I, however, view these things more positively.

• I get to leave the office on a beautiful day. This cannot be understated, as my cubicle is both depressing and suffocating
• I look like a hero. The boss thinks of this as being a great big favor I've done him. In fact, it is I who have been given the favor, especially because ...
• It's a handy excuse as to why something did not get done. "I was going to write that report, but someone needed me to run a certain cellphone to them in Midtown."

So today I got a treat, and I got to be The Runner. And of course, I got no work done this afternoon.
