Happy 5th of July
Today, for the most part, was another wasted day. Wasted in the sense that I spent a lot of time doing things that other people needed, and not much of what I needed to do for me. I didn't return that pair of shorts to Old Navy. I didn't get to take any more cool bridge pictures. I didn't get a chance to buy some screens for my windows (West Nile Virus, don'tcha know). And I didn't get a chance to cook like I've gotten the jonesing for. Instead I went to Jersey, did some work, and ended up missing a call from my kid that I tutor. Grrr... :: So, after all the hype about firefox, I finally went back to trying it out. I already had Mozilla 1.4 on my system, and was none too impressed (although it did have tabbed browsing, a feature that apparently nobody knew about at the time). But considering the brewhaha over the IIS virus and the Slate article recommending Firefox (I wonder if they fired that writer that day, or waiting for him to screw up and then canning him.), I figured I'd give it another shot. It still feels beta. Nothing clicks through all the time, and there are hiccups. As other point out, IE is just as buggy, but it bugs out after doing something. It hiccups far less often, and the need to reclick things is far less. Of course, this is made up by the need to shut down and restart IE, or even reboot, more often, but that's another story. I do greatly enjoy the extensions, especially Firesomething. I'll give it a shot for a few days, see how it pans out. :: I'm debating switching blogging software. Blogger has been pretty good to me, but I feel tech envy. Specifically, WordPress envy. All the cool bloggers and switching to it, now that MT screwed up with their licensing structure. But, of course, the catch is hosting. I don't have hosting. That is, until I saw the special at Site5. That's a whole lot of hosting for very little. Of course, that would also mean that I'd be paying for 3 online services. UMich hosting and dialup (both of which I barely use), Access4Less dialup (my main connection), and now Site5? $30-$40 a month for internet services? Maybe I'll just stick with Blogger for now.
