Ambitious Day
Saturdays are usually days where Gene sleeps in late, curses at himself for sleeping in late, and then does laundry and some minor errand in Manhattan. A lazy day in short. This Saturday, however, looks to be much different. Besides laundry and dry cleaning, there the requisite visit to the Union Square farmer's market (or greenmarket as they are called). The MOMA is opening their doors for their new rebuilt space, and admission is FREE. (Funny story here. When i had just finished high school, a friend of mine, Catherine Cheng was working at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. As a Met employee, she usually gets a free pass for herself and a guest to other NYC museums as a courtesy just by showing her ID. So we had a whirlwind museum day. We got into the Met, the Whitney, the Guggenheim (at half price as they had a special Lichtenstein exhibit ... one of the best art shows I've ever been to), and then came the MOMA. They wanted full price or not at all. Bastards.) The Brooklyn Academy of Music is having a special Jim Henson retrospective, and I'm trying to angle for the 4:30pm showing of The Muppet Movie. And, of course, starting at 6:30pm I've been invited to the Yankee Gala at the Plymouth Church of the Pilgrims. I better get to bed early. :: Whoo hoo! My first photo credit, albeit a lame and small one at that. A front page note on gothamist.com featuring my picture of The Knitting Factory. All that and a free vodka drink at the Movable Hype event. Score! :: I forgot to mention. My bowling scores for last week: Game 1: 146 Game 2: 127
