Yankee Gala and MoMA
Apparently, my ambitious day wasn't ambitious enough, as U2 held a suprise concert in Brooklyn that I didn't know about and missed. Darn. Anyhoo, on account of the mundane tasks, like laundry, I had to scale back my plans. I had forgotten about the Michigan/Ohio State game, and that had to be watched (or, at least the first half, when I realized that Michigan was not going to win this one). So, that meant the Muppet Movie was out. The hour spent waiting in line, in the rain, almost meant that the MoMA was out of the question. And the fact that I had to stop at the office and pick up my good shoes (I only have one pair) meant that the Yankee Gala was almost out as well. Thanksfully, despite the rudest lady in the world (and her blond daughter) cutting me in line, I managed to get in and get a solid hour of free art. Plus, I got to take a bunch of great pics, not as many as I would have liked, and I didn't have the time to take the pictures of people that I really wanted to (ex: People so eager to see "Starry Night" that they completely ignored the other Van Gogh sitting on the wall next to it titled ... um I don't know, I was hypnotized by "Starry Night".). But it was still a blast. I really enjoyed the energy of the crowds. I doubt, with the $20 entrance fee, that it will ever be as crowded ever again. And then, like the Flash, I was out of there in the blink of an eye. The office for my shoes, and a pen, and then it was the Yankee Gala. The Yankee Gala, for those of you who don't know, is an annual event that essentially is an excuse to dress fancy and have wine, and possibly raise some funds for the Plymouth Church of the Pilgrims. The Plymouth Church of the Pilgrims happens to be a very famous church for it's abolitionist preecher, and the fact that Abraham Lincoln often sat for serviced whenever he came to Brooklyn. I didn't know that this was the same church, so it was a pleasant suprise. Of course, there were no young people there, so I just ended up hanging with my co-worker and her family, and having a bit too much wine. They had a swell swing band, tho. Today was just more tutoring and bowling. I had a set of great games, but it wasn't enough to get us to a victory. *sigh* :: Bowling Update Game 1: 142 Game 2: 139
