Back To Blogging ... If Only For A Little Bit
A few minor updates I thought I'd clear out of the way. My bathroom sink refuses to give me options. Either it's on full blast, or it's off. Well, that is a lie. There is a third option, and it's called vibrating like a jackhammer while a trickle of water drips out, before shutting off completely. I blame the new faucet and the cold weather playing hell witht he pipes. Not that it matters when I am trying to brush my teeth and keep the sink from flooding the apartment at the same time. I stay too late at work for no reason. I mean, ther is a reason, it's called work. But there's always just one more thing to do. I've got to learn to just let it go and leave early and enjoy that whole life thing. Of course, this bicycle could use a fish, but that's a whole 'nother matter. I'm still working my way through the holiday pounds. I don't have a scale, so I can't tell if I'm making progress. From a pants-fit level, I can say that the expansion has stopped, but the shrinking really hasn't begun in earnest. I do feel better, with slightly more energy. But I'm still not liking what I see in the mirror. Oh, and my pants are still too tight. I'm thinking that my workouts are going to have to involve more aerobic activity. Which means joining a gym. Which means spending money. Ungh. The price difference between the Sony DSC-717 and a Canon Digital Rebel EOS really isn't that much, according to ebay. Maybe $100. So why wouldn't I want to get a true SLR instead? With a step up in megapixels, a LOT less noise, and a favorite among the serious photobloggers out there. The Nikon D70 is also looking good, but the price is still too high for it to be reasonable. I'm itching to get something NOW, to join the ranks of rion.nu or satan's laundromat or KilltheBird, but the practical side of me says that we still need one or two more years to fully amortize the cost of the current camera. A camera which, according to ebay, is worth somewhere in the neighborhood of $50. I'm thinking of maybe recalculating depreciation on a per picture basis instead of a per year basis, but then at that point I might as well just use pro-forma results in my annual budget, no? And that would never be acceptable to the Board (me).
