Because When Girls Can Sell Cookies Without A License, The Terrorists Will Have Won

There might be more to the story here, but unless there's crack in them cookies, I don't see how the NYPD is going to get out of looking like evil Keystone cops on this one. Basic details: Girl and dad are delivering Girl Scout cookies to grandma and picking up the cash. Two plainclothes cops, a captain and an officer, confront girl and dad in abusive manner. Dad is cited for selling cookies without a license. Girl cries. Mom, who has MS and was in the van the whole time, is shocked. Gramdma is angry. (All that's missing to make the grand Trifecta is the family dog being run over and Tiny Tim's gravestone.) Needless to say, the Police Commissioner's office was shocked, and since this is now in the papers (and probably the evening news), they will be none too pleased as well. Ditto the mayor's office, and probably Senator Chuck Schumer too (He will do anything to get onto the evening news.). I imagine that the precinct commander will not be pleased as well (send all compaint letters to: Commanding Officer Captain Michael J. O'Hara, 94th Precinct, 100 Messerole Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11222, Tel: (718) 383-3879). The best part of the story is that the officer was not pleased, he didn't want to give out the ticket but was "strong armed" by the Captain. I think it's safe to say whom, of the pair, had some brains. Anyway, until we get the quote from Guiliani about how these rouge unlicensed Girl Scouts are destroying the quality of life in the city, I expect this story to last until Friday.
