I got blown off for dinner tonight, so I figured I'd maybe check out some live music and get a beer or two at a place in Brooklyn I was reading about. Of course, the only problem is that I haven't the foggiest idea where this place was or how I came upon it in the first place. So instead I took a little walk to burn off the fact that all I ate today for breakfast and lunch was a bag of cookies. Seriously. And while it's nice to take a little evening stroll/photowalk from the Port Authority up to 49th street and then all the way down to Canal, it's also a little sad considering that it's Saturday night and I should be at some ultrahip bar chatting it up with the beautiful people, or something. Which is what I wanted to do, only I couldn't remember the name of the place I wanted to go to. I didn't find it via gothamist.com, although I did trip over The Burger Joint, which was just recently profiled (I didn't want to add to my waist, so I just walked on by). Then ,for some odd reason I thought it might be via therealjanelle, although I don't know why as I haven't seen her blog in a month now. And then, after tooling around on flickr for 2 hours, it hit me: something about youngna.com. Only, of course, it wasn't. It WAS a blog linked from youngna.com, that talked a lot about being poor and still being able to swing drinks (Now that's my kind of blog!). And so, now after the night is fully over, I now know that it was Pete's Candy Store in Williamsburg that I had in mind. I have GOT to learn how to bookmark these cool little things I find online. It would make life much easier.
