WANTED-iilgemini
Jase made the papers, although probably no in the way he wanted to. It's actually a little hilarious. He got a ticket for standing in a No Standing zone. To an extent he was guilty, as he admits to standing in the zone, and the sign was very clear. Only, he was not in a motor vehicle or near a motor vehicle. He was literally STANDING, as in your own two feet, opposed to walking or sitting, nothing to do with any sort of transportation other then what the good Lord provided (with a litle help from his parents when he was about 1-2 years old). This will, I presume, be dismissed from court, as it's the wrong charge for starters. Standing is a motor vehicle offense, it doesn't apply to people. The charge he SHOULD have been hit with is Loitering. And despite what the Park Department spokesman, desperately trying to cover some embarassing powertrip high Parks Officer ass, might like you to believe, there is a big difference in the power of words. The law is built on words, it is in fact nothing but words. It's why good lawyers can say "It depends on what you mean by 'is' is." with a straight face. Every single word comes with specific meaning built up and codified through legislation and use. Standing is for cars. Loitering is for people. If the signs says No Standing, and is done in the same red lettering and shape as used for parking signs, you can't reappropriate it to apply to pedestrians just because your officer got all trippy on his power high. I know the standard operating proceedure is to always make up more lies, blame the victim, make up new law and rules, and essentially do anything but admit that your officer screwed up, but for once it would be refreshing for a government office to just admit that the officer overstepped his bounds, and apologize. This is why people have a love hate relationship with cops. This is why cops don't get the respect they deserve. We're all human, people make mistakes, we all get mad with power to push people around. Why embarass yourself with these ridiculous lies and stories? And I swear if someone even mentions 9/11 I will go back in time and stick you in the towers so you fucking know what REAL terrorism looks like, and how you cheapen the good name of all those people who died when you use "terrorism" to justify every stupid decision no matter how insignificant it may be to the real efforts to combat terrorism. They didn't die so your officers could push around people at will, mother fuckers. Link:
