Overload IX
Mental overload is something I've kind of got at the moment. There are a LOT of things I have to process, and the processer keeps hanging and needing a reset. At first, soft reboot via the booze-snacks-games key combination worked. But, alas, now I have to do hard reboots, which means complete downtime for at least 8 hours while the machine is in sleep mode. And even then, I've had to draw down concurrent threads on the weekends, lest there be a crash before the critical Monday crunch. The good news is that the ambient temperature has cooled, so the risk of heat damage has reduced signifigantly (because the system is simply air-cooled, no fancy freon/compressor based cooling system installed). I called the manufacturer to order a memory upgrade, but now that the product has reached the 3.0 stage, it's out of warranty and thus no tech support. The call-in center in California offered to send cookies to keep things running until the Nov 24th servicing visit, but that's about it.
